I’m Corbin Buff – a writer of many mediums living in Western Montana.
I blog about work and business, contrarian thinking, and writing.
My Story
My grandfather was an author, and I fell in love with reading and writing from an early age. I went on to get an English degree from the University of Montana.
In my last couple years of school, I began offering to write for companies who sold products I was already using and enjoying. My intention was just to make some extra money while I was in college. I ended up having enough clients to support myself as a freelance copywriter by the time I graduated.
Early on, I decided to use my powers to create things for myself rather than depend solely on client work, so I’ve been working steadfastly on building several content businesses/brands of my own. One of which is the site you’re on right now. But the most successful one by far has been Acoustic World – my blog about acoustic music, which currently gets around 20,000 organic readers a month.
This site you’re on now is about sharing my contrarian ideas about work, online business, and writing. Unlike most people, I don’t see business as a tool to get rich or grow/scale a massive company. (Nothing wrong with those things, of course. I just don’t care about them very much.) To me, business is a vehicle for creating meaningful work that enriches your life and the lives of others. I see business as creative freedom; the freedom to create whatever work, lifestyle, or projects you choose. You can read more about all that on the blog.
I also write poetry, which you can read here.
*(Shameless plug: By the way, if you’re looking to hire a writer, I do still take on client work. Hit me up here.)
